Children at MFM
Religious education for our youth is an important value in Midlothian Friends Meeting. The Quaker testimony of equality brushes through our relationships with our children. For example, it is perfectly normal for a child to call another adult besides their parent by the adult’s first name. In Quakerism’s early days in England, it sometimes fell to the children of meeting to keep a meeting functional, because their parents were in jail because of religious persecution.
RE classes are held every 2nd and 4th Sunday. At quarter past the hour, the children leave the Meeting for Worship and go to their classrooms for a 45 minute period.
Nursery care is available by calling ahead.
In good weather, the children enjoy the outdoor surroundings of our new meetinghouse in the woods, including visits to nearby llamas.
